Meter Readings Entry - AAIs

Hi Everyone:

My questions are very simple.

I know that is a prerequisite setup several AAIs (FM) in JD Edwards in order to entry meter readings (such as odometer, fuel, and hours) in Capital Asset Management module.

My point is ... why to use AAIs and affect on statistical accounts? ... why not use a normal table in JDE in order to control this information?

I mean, I know that this is mandatory this setup in the system but I try to figure out the PROCESS reason to handle this information in accounting.
