R12.2.6 Oracle EBS - Schema password related question

In EBS - we have different schema accounts (like AP/AR/GL...).

As per my understanding Oracle applications uses 'apps' user account to process and execute any dml statements on any table.

If the above is true, then what if the password expires for these schena accounts, will it break the system?

What will be the impact if the schema account expires ?

When do we use these schema accounts ?
