Can I mass update custodian with new effective date?

Is it possible to use PHY-Physical Asset Changes Mass Transaction to change asset custodian value by inserting a new effective date in 'Custodian Information' frame of the  'Manufacture/License/Custodian Location' Tab within the 'Basic Add' Component?  I was able to use PHY-Physical Asset Changes Mass Transaction to change asset custodian value; but I need to keep the old custodian information and add a new row.   Can I use Mass Transaction Manager for this update?
