Use Goldengate to upgrade db, change characterset and port to new server

All,  would like to receive feedback on this upgrade plan.

Upgrade source db from 10.2.0.3  to target 12.2.0.1 using Goldengate 12.2.  Source on solaris 10; target on new server (zone or ldom), solaris 11.

Source and target will not be rac and no standby either.

Can 12.2 goldengate be used with 10203 database ?

Can 12.2 goldengate convert the incoming characterset to the new target characterset?

'Upgrade ' accomplished by these steps:

  • install / configure 12.2. goldengate on source
  • install / configure  12.2 goldengate on target
  • install 12.2 oracle ee on target
  • dbca to create target shell db with new characterset
  • start goldengate on source
  • use data pump to import / instantiate to target
  • start goldengate on target (use new scn tracking feature of GG 12.2 )
