Are Commissions Constants Necessary to set up if Using Related Salesperson and Customer Master Commi

Our company is in the process of updating from 9.0 to 9.2. In testing I have found that P42110, Commission/Royalty Constants, no longer allows a blank or zero value in the Commission % (CPCT) field.

At the time we implemented JDE in 2007, I was advised that we had to set up commissions constants when creating a customer record.

However, we actually assign commissions and commission percentage by setting up a Sales Group in the Related Sales Person Table (P42100)  and linking that Sales Group to the Customer Master in the Customer Master Commission Lookup (P42140).

Though we do need to know what Sales Group and what commission rate are linked to an account, the P42100 & P42140 combo provides this. We cannot go further with Oracle commissions because we process commissions based on customer payments, not on invoices. Oracle does not offer a solution for that - so we extract sales/commissions information using a custom written report that looks at customer payments along with other tables, and then we process commissions using an offline program.

Howdy, Stranger!
