TNS-1189 when issuing scan listener status

edited Nov 19, 2017 4:03AM in Database Administration (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered

I have a 2 node RAC configuration.  11.2.0.3 SPARC x64 is installed on both systems.

For SCAN IP, I am not using a DNS server.  Instead, I am using /etc/hosts file to define a SCAN IP.

I issue "lsnrctl status listener_scan1" on Node A.  It returns the status of the listener.

However, when I execute the same command on Node B, it returns a TNS-01189: The listener could not authenticate the user.

"show parameter local_listener" produces a full description, address list, address etc.

"show parameter remote_listener" just produces a "oracle-scanvip:1521" value.  Should this be a spelled out definition like the local_listener with description list, address list, and address?

Howdy, Stranger!
