Is there a way to enable average balances in R12 after the ledger is completed?

We are using oracle E-Business Suite R12.1.3, with modules AP,AR, GL and FA.

Is there a way to enable average balances in R12 after the ledger is completed? Is there a workaround to add this functionality, meanwhile no transactions are entered in the system?

P.S We are aware of Doc ID 734099.1.
