Fixed Asset Master record missing

Hi

I have a fixed asset no. 8082, it was created few years ago and then extended to CAM, work orders created. Now, today when the end user tried to make a work order, " Asset Number input invalid" error popped up. I looked at F1201, F1202 no records exists for this particular asset number. I want to know,

1. Is there a way to delete all the transactions, maser details for a particular asset number ? I mean wipe off all records related to a particular asset number ?

2. If the answer to Q1 is "Yes/No" then how can we get it back ? because i don't want to create a new asset master record and offcourse not restore from the backup
