Unifier setting or configuration call "keepalive"

We are having issues with time outs sporadically of about 5 minutes through our VIP using Unifier.  Is there a setting or a configuration in Unifier called "keepalive" within the application?  If so, is the setting or configuration all versions of Unifier or what version did it start in and is it currently a setting or configuration?
