Account Type is blank for Summary accounts?

Hi, We recently submitted the "Add/Delete Summary Accounts" and it created GL accounts with summary_flag= Y and account type that is blank.   Is this correct ?  Is the account_Type supposed to be blank for summary accounts?   Please advise. Thanks.
