adop ad txk upgrade and critical patch

Hi,

I am applying a critical patch which needs the latest txk / ad family packs. I did the patching in one online cycle but I have been told that this is incorrect and I should first install the ad / txk, cutover. Then start a new cycle to apply the critical patch. Does the approach matter? Is it mandatory to do the ad / tsk in its own cycle.
