PDBA Advance Setup Feature

What does the checkbox in the Advanced DBA Info for "Include in Union Plan" means?  What would be the difference if it's selected or not?  I have located the definition and the Doc 1493693.1 which states the below but I need its application or understanding of its meaning.

A code that indicates if a DBA is associated with a union or group plan. If you enter Y, the union/group plan, job type, and job step from the Employee Master are carried into the DBA Detail table (F0609) when the DBA is created from the Employee DBA Instructions.  Adding the union/group plan, job type, and job step to a DBA affects the following:
