How to combine backup pieces in copy?

We are taking backups to disk for speed then following up with copy of backupset to tape.  The disk backup has very small pieces ie 1 archive = 1 piece

Is it possible to have the copy to tape combine these pieces so maybe 10 pieces on disk go to tape as one piece?
