Physical Inventory Count based on selected items

Hi,

Business has a requirement to physical inventory Count for selected items . As i understood, physical Inventory count can be done on all the items of any organization or for specific sub inventory and can't be done for specific set of Items.

Is there any way, we can achieve it through customization.Like Inserting data into MTL_PHYSICAL_INVENTORIES and calling 'Freeze physical inventory' program accordingly.

Can this be achieved by any means ?
