ODA X5-2 Virtual Machines are unacceptably slow
Has anyone created VM’s on an X5-2? How did they perform?
VMs created on our ODA X4-2 have acceptable performance.
VMs created on our ODA X5-2 are unacceptably slow.
Both VMs were created from the same template using the –driverdomain option.
Both nodes have no databases installed and are idle.
The Oracle support response was that it was due to the X-5 slower disks and I should do the following:
oakcli create vm … with the addition of the -driverdomain switch, oakcli create vdisk and attach it to the new vm, then, within linux locate, partition, format and mount the new disk. This will leave you with a two disk system: the first disk will be the system disk as it is currently, the second will be under driverdomain. It would be interesting to create identical directories in both disks and compare your performance.
