requisition contract maximum amount

Hello,

We are on Peoplesoft 9.1.  Does anyone know a way to prevent a requisition (which is tied to a contract and item) from going over the max amount setup on the contract?

I can tie my requistion line to a contract and related item, but nothing stops me from submitting it to workflow, even if it is well over the contract max.
