EDI - Translating customer part number

We are using E1 9.2 and we are setting up the EDI Inbound 850.  In the incoming data, the customer is sending their part number.  When bringing their data into JDE, is there a way to translate the customer part number into one of our valid JDE part numbers?  I would think the Item XREF in F4104 could be used to do this.
