Adding Disks to Disk group basic questions

Just 2 basic questions regarding ASM ..

We are using Oracle 12.1.0.2 and Oracle EBS 12.1.3 with ASM

Question 1)

We added disks (250G) to the DiskGroup while the DB was up and running in our DEV and QA environments with no issues ,it took about 2 hours for the Rebalance to finish ..

We will have to do the same in PROD next month.. this is an EBS database so it’s gets pretty busy during the day , is it better to do this after hours when the DB is less active than during the day ?

Will the Rebalance take longer on the Production DB since it’s more active/busy?
