Hi All,

we are in a peculiar situation, that the hardware behind our DB server needs firmware upgrades by two levels, however while doing it the engineer discovered that to perform the second firmware upgrade and to be assured of hardware vendor support he needs to be on RHEL 6.8, however to be on RHEL 6.8 it is recommended to be on Oracle 11gR2.

Current situation :

RHEL 6.3, Oracle 11gR1

Desired situation :

RHEL 6.8, Oracle 11gR2 or Oracle 11gR1

Question  : is it mandatory that we must upgrade 11gR1 to 11gR2 before we upgrade the RHEL from 6.3 to 6.8 or is it fine wot go ahead with RHEL 6.3 to 6.8 with Oracle 11gR1 ? will the exisitng database 11gR1 continue to work fine with no issues on RHEL 6.8 ?
