Move a configured item to another branch plant

Hello

I have 1 sales order for a single customer with 2 configured line items. Line 1 Item A is manufactured in BP01 and LIne item 2 Item B is manufactured in BP02. These branch plants use the same company number.

Item A will be manufactured and completed in BP01 and I need to move it to BP02 where it will be attached to item B in BP02. Once the items are put together I will ship them with other products for a customer using advanced transportation and consolidation turned on.

Wondering what the best practice would be to do this? I have looked at ST/OT and moving finished goods between branch plants but it's messy to cancel line items on a sales order and creating a new one for the branch plant move and going through a configuration again. Is this my only option?
