Table Validation runs for days, never completes

We recently upgraded to PT8.55 and are on Campus Solutions 9.0.  We have not been able to get table validation, sftblval.sqr, to run to completion with the Item Due flag checked since the upgrade.  We have let it run for days and it never finishes.  There are no errors in the log file.  We have looked at SQL tuning and nothing seems amiss.  We have turned on tracing and shown that the job is progressing slowly and steadily. 

Also, we run this sftblval weekly with this option checked.  I'm curious how often everyone else runs the job.  PeopleBooks says this step compare the item due dates between item and item line and updates item line to match item when there is a discrepancy.
