Best approach to upgrade EBS R12.2.4 to R12.2.6/R12.2.7

Hi

Please provide the best way to upgrade the existing EBS  R12.2.4 (database 11.2.0.4)  to EBS  R12.2.6 or  R12.2.7

1. upgrade the database 11.2.0.4 to  12.1.0.2   and then  upgrade the EBS to R12.2.6./R12.2.7?

2. upgrade EBS R12.2.4 to EBS R12.2.6/R12.2.7 without database  upgrade running on 11.2.0.4 ?

Please provide the  benefit for upgrading the database 11.2.0.4 to 12.1.0.2   for upgrading EBS to R12.2.6/R12.2.7

Considering  the below

In future we will also convert the existing EBS/database  after upgrade to Oracle RAC

Also will be using goldengate
