Embedded BIP Barcode fails in large Batch print

We are using embedded BI Publisher for our pick slips in the warehouse (R42520), and we have barcoded the pick slip number.  If the batch is larger than normal (>500 pages roughly) the barcode fails to encode.  It just prints the numbers with the appended/prepended asterisk, i.e., *12345*. 

I am able to reproduce this error in our prototype environment and have tried using the large job kernel settings in P95646 but the result did not change.
