Do you hide bank account number in remittance email?

We just realized that our remittance e-mail contains both the bank ABA number and the our vendor's bank account number in plain text, and is transmitted without encryption.

What is common practice?

Are users replacing the account number with "*", leaving only the last few digits? Or are you encrypting the e-mails?
