RMAN-Restoring vs. -Cloning for Recovery Szenarios
Hello,
we plan a recovery strategy for an Oracle 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition Database in case of hardware failure of the production server.
The directory structure on production and backup server ist different.
In this case the proccess of cloning a database from a full online backup with rman is easier than restoring the database.
Is there a reason to prefer restoring the database instad of cloning it?
Is it possible to clone until time if I provide the necessary backups of archived redo logs between the last full backup and the crash?
Kind Regards,
Christian
