API for updating Tax on item

Hi Team,

Let me inform you that I am a functional consultant and hence the requirement may be lucid or simple, really do not know but let me take  this opportunity to ask via this forum .

Anyone knows any API to update taxes on item instead of defining manually  at item tax classification on item Attribute  under purchasing Tab.
