Stock Type 'P'

Right now we buy from a company for parts.  These parts are setup as “P” in JDE. We are going to use the Plasma Cutting Table to do some of the projects that the Company would do; which I believe would change the “P” to a “M” for manufactured .  We wants to keep The Company active and the items as “P’” just in case we need to use them instead of doing the projects in house.  Can we leave the items as “P” and still charge it out if they do it in house and not through the Company?
