Messages in database writer trace files

edited Dec 15, 2017 9:40AM in Database Administration (MOSC) 7 commentsAnswered

We are running Oracle RAC 12.1.0.2 on RHEL6.5 with ASM using NFS mounts to NetApp SAN.

Our PROD database is also running in standby using DBVisit to ship and apply log files.

The database writer trace file for the standby database have grown very large, and I am seeing the following messages.

"starting tracing, since not seeing successful writes"

followed by trace details, and then (usually)

"successful, write tracing off"

The "starting tracing" seems to coincide with redo log applications (these are scheduled at 05 and 35 past the hour and the messages seem to start at 06 and 36 past the hour)

But what is filling the logs is messages like that repeating every 3 seconds when we do not get a "tracing off" message

Howdy, Stranger!
