Unable to connect to the database

We are using the Primavera P6 version.

We are getting the unable to connect to database error when try to login to application. This is primavera installed on standalone oracle XE database. We have tried to restart the database. When try to login to the application, we have accidentally touched config database setting. So I believe the config file maybe bad now. Also, we have forgotten the pubprm$pm password setup during the original installation and the person installed this has left the company. Can we just simply reset the pubprm$pm password through XE db with alter user pubprm$pm identified by password command and try to enter it
