Applying 9.2 Update 2 (UN2) for the Year End update.

Just learned that Update 2 (UN2) for release 9.2 is required for the Year End update.  This baseline appears to be HUGE and affect loads of critical applications, bus. functions, etc. in System 98, Address Book, A/P, A/R, Procurement, HR and Payroll.  Has anyone found an alternative to installing Update 2 just be able to download and apply the regular year end update?  It is not likely we can test all the code changes in UN2 and still close the books and meet our W-2 deadlines.  If I'm overlooking something please share.  Thanks!
