Alternate BOM(MBOM) in Agile PLM

What are the round about ways of managing Alternate BOMs in Agile?

I am looking at the ERP system an see that we have a several entities associated with the Material (Item in Agile.) BOM is one of those.

Since we need to manage multiple BOMs for the same Material can Variant Management (Model and Options) feature be used to create the Alternate BOMs?

Else please suggest a use case for Model and Options in Agile (possible an example where this is used?)
