Why do FullSnapshot files of the same EPBCS application vary greatly in size?

Context:

We take our EPBCS application FullSnapshot daily as a backup measure. Between Dec 24-31, we didn't expect much activities happening to the application, however the daily FullSnapshot (.zip) file sizes vary greatly.

After using Beyond Compare to look into FullSnapshot.zip, it is found out that Essbase Data subfolder caused the major file size discrepancies.

Questions:

  1. Dec24 FullSnapshot zip file size is smaller than Dec31, however Dec24 Essbase Data size is much larger, why?
  2. What may impact Essbase Data size even when there are no changes made to EPBCS application?
