After increase Asset units where to add the asset details and new serial number/tag for the new unit

I need to change the units on existing asset number 12345 from one (1) unit to two(2) units. I can change the units and assignment each unit to a two different employee; however where can asset add details because unit two(2) has a different serial number/tag. Also should unit two(2) get its own assets number.  Please help.
