Moving off NIS - Solaris 8

in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) Question

Currently got a large solaris server farm. Mostly 11, some 10, some 9, even fewer 8.

BUT login authentication, hosts, netgroup etc is done using NIS which runs on a a pair of Solaris 8 Servers.

Looking to move away onto LDAP. BUT looking for least desruptive method possible with least downtime/least risk.

Not sure best approach. i.e. upgrade to Solaris 11 first, or leave at Solaris 8 and install LDAP.
