AutoCreate Final Assembly Orders and serial number

Confused in reading the Work In Process user guide. Thinking about having serial numbers associated at job creation to ATO jobs. The user guide speaks to running WIP Mass Load through Import Jobs and Schedules...that the WIP Mass Load job looks for a request id. However when we launch AutoCreate Final Assembly Orders it kicks off Assemble To Order Mass Load Report and this creates the ATO jobs that are linked to a SO. However there are no serial numbers generated.

Thoughts?
