StringIndexOutOfBoundsException upon login

A client is having an issue where a user is unable to access the server. The system uses SSO ("Microsoft Login") and the user gets the following error immediately after login.

System code execution error. Runtime error: java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -1
