How does the Menu IDs column in P0092 for JDE 9.2 get updated?

We know that the Menu ID columns is a remnant from the XE/ERP 8 days. We no longer have the ability to assign menu id in P0092 but after a user gets created, i see that the Menu ID gets updated with a G for some users.

I wanted to know how this works?
