R12.2 : Notifications are not triggered on Status Update

We recently upgraded from 11.5.10.2 to 12.2
In 11.5.10.2 , after the Service Request Status is updated, email notification used to trigger to the Customer Contacts, where as in R12.2 this is not happening.
We verified the Notifications Setup and also business events setup and compared with the 11i, there was no difference, we are using the standard templates and business events.
However we noticed that while defining the SR Status Groups and Transitions, in R12.2. there are additional fields like Task Template,Workflow in the Transition Rules page, we left these fields blank. in 11i these are not there.
The Profile Option Service: Auto Launch Workflows on the Service Request Transitions is set to No at site level.
