Updating cost organization (COST_ORGANIZATION_ID ) after set up

Has anyone updated cost org in organization parameters after the set up was completed?  If so, what issues did you run into?  Any gotchas? 

This has come up as we are a multi org company and it makes sense to copy costs from a master cost org.  The original set up (years ago) did not share orgs.
