Recommendation for installation location

Installing GC 13 on Oracle Linux.  Walking through the steps in the Basic Installation Guide,  at the "Installation Details", they show:

Middleware Home Location - /u01/software/em/middleware

Agent Base Directory - /u01/software/em/agent

Now, I know what they show in the guide is just an example, but I'm wondering if anyone has any real-world recommendations.  What I'm particularly thinking is that since the database is installed at /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0.2/dbhome_1,  that it would make more sense - be more consistent - to use

Middleware Home Location - /u01/app/oracle/product/13.2.0/em/middleware

Agent Base Directory - /u01/app/oracle/product/13.2.0/em/agent
