Creating new Instance in oracle

Recently for one of my pre prod environment I have purchased new flash storage .I have copied my data from old storage to new storage .I  am running on Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.4.0 - 64bit .

could please confirm on below questions.

is it possible to run new storage on oracle 11 g and install oracle 12c on the old storage? The reason I want to do this as I am planning to update oracle version in future  wanted to do some testing with this old storage by upgrading version to oracle 12c.
Can I create a separate instance with the old storage and run it on oracle 12c ?
