Fixed Asset Transfer

I am new to install base and I have a requirement that we transfer serialized hardware from install base to fixed assets. I don't think the transfer program will allow me to only transfer serialized hardware is this correct? The customer currently uses a custom program to perform the transfer. Can I use the delivered program to do this?
