Will Customer Merge bring in attachments to the new customer in Oracle R12

We are working on a project to merge the customers that have the same name in Oracle AR. We want to make sure that all the data and attachments will remain in Oracle after the merge.

We tested 2 customers in October, each customer had attachments on them but this attachments disappear after the merge. I would like to know if there is an additional step that needs to be taken in order to ensure that the data and attachments will remain in Oracle after the merge.
