What would be best failover and DR plan

Hi Community,

I am running Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Unix system.   We are running on active/passive node at this moment.   It means only one node would be in operation all the time until it fails.  The second node comes into play only the other node unable to operate.  Our DB size at this moment is 1.6 terra bite.  It is OLTP cum Reporting data base at this moment. Day time OLTP, night time Reporting.

We have plans this year to upgrade or 10G to 12c Rel 2.

Either with upgrade or immediately after upgrade to 12c Rel 2, our management thinking of operating on ORACLE RAC.
