How to enable the acknowledgement notification feature?

How to enable the acknowledgement notification feature? 

I can see that the system has available Acknowledgements in the workflow along with Approver & Notifiers.   However, when moving thru the workflow route, this new Acknowledgement is not available.

I did start configuring for the Approval Matrix, thinking that maybe i needed to have this all turned on but still struggling to actually see this new option.

Any helpful hints or direction anyone can push me towards?
