distance between 2 nodes (in non-stretch cluster)

The RAC FAQ on MOS mentions about stretch clusters (extended RAC). But in case of non-stretch cluster, is there any guidance on the max distance between 2 nodes of RAC?

for e.g. we typically deploy 2 node RAC with both nodes in the same chassis (HP C7000) and the interconnect latency is 0.5ms. There is a requirement to have chassis redundancy and hence split the 2 nodes in different chassis. Can anybody think of any issues? Latency may be a bit more, say 1 ms.
