My company ran the balance forward program for FY 2019 instead of 2018. We tried to rerun it for FY

My company ran the balance forward program for FY 2019 instead of 2018.  We tried to rerun it for FY18 but the retained earnings still reflects the value starting 2017.  It does not pickup the values added during 2017.  I appears this is because they have already been added to the 2019 retained earnings record.  According the documentation wee should be able to rerun balance forward as many times as needed but no updates are occurring.  Is this because the 2019 record exists and do we need to delete it?
