Accumulated Depreciation

Hi Experts

1) For any asset can we add accumulated Depreciation directly through JE If no cost is defined is it correct ?

2) if the cost is added to the asset is it ok to added the accumulated Depreciation through Beginning balance?

or we need to add the  accumulated Depreciation through JE OR is it ok to run the depreciation report ?

Please advice!!
