No workflow, but messages written to the work center?

Hello,

Is using Workflow the only way for a Credit Limit approver to receive work center messages? This would be when the sales order is originally created. I thought there was a different way just by setting up P42090, P03013 and the processing options behind P4210. Maybe I am just going crazy...

If the only option is to use workflow, I would assume JDESOENTRY and/or JDESOCHNG are the only options?
