OEL 7.4 and Gnome 3

I recently installed OEL 7.4 on a virtual server (not oracle's), and we've been having issues using tiger vnc to maintain the environment, it's extremely slow.  I've checked entropy and the values I'm getting are good. It seems that 7.4 has introduced gnome3 which uses a different interface that gnome 2, and and has rendered certain software  like opentexts exceed, unuseable.  I asked Oracle if it was possible to install gnome2 instead of gnome3, but they indicated that wasn't possible. Is there any additional software that needs to be installed in OEL 7.4 to support a virtual environment.  Or does

anyone have any other suggestions as to why  tigrevnc software is so slow?
